Advisory Board for Turks Living Abroad:

Established in 1998 under the office of the Prime Minister, Advisory Board for Turks Living Abroad strives to provide and coordinate solutions to problems of Turkish Citizens living abroad. Headed by the appointed Minister, this board's members maybe selected by the appointed representatives of political parties in the Turkish Parliament, the undersecretaries and/or the general managers of; Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Tourism and the Office of Religious Affairs, in addition, these selections may be done by consul generals, where large Turkish populations exist. At a given time the board contains a minimum of 25 representatives. Currently, the advisory board has 76 members. (Turkish Citizenship is required for applications.)

Mission of the Advisory Board:

• Observe; help coordinate, and asses all the efforts that are undertaken by the ministries and the other governmental organizations that pertain to the Turkish Citizens Living Abroad.
• Provide support for the issues/topics that are appointed by the minister responsible.
• Discuss and provide support for topics that will provide ease of social and economical integration of Citizens Living Abroad.
• Observe and report the needs of Citizens Living Abroad and provide recommendations on the relevant regulatory and the legal support framework.
• Plan and organize activities to convey the sensitivity of Turkish public against racism, segregation in Europe.
• If required, Advisory Board for Turks Living Abroad may initiate sub-committees. The presidents to these committees shall be appointed by the president of the Advisory Board for Turks Living Abroad.
• Administrative support is provided by the Ministry responsible from the Advisory Board for Turks Living Abroad.
• All ministries and other governmental organizations have to report all information flow requested by the Office of Advisory Board of Turks Living Abroad in order to provide full coordination to the responsible Ministry.
